Cerner Careers – System Engineer II

Job Description:

Additionally, as a System Engineer II you will work with public cloud technologies and need to understand how to build and maintain systems using Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code. A working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Terraform and Chef is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

• May be required to lift up to 20 lbs., i.e. server, network equipment
• Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
• Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned
• Must reside in the Kansas City area; or live within 60 miles of a virtually approved city
• Must be willing to travel 20% as needed

Job Requirements:

• Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen
• At least 1 year of system administration and/or system engineering work experience
• Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position
• Experience deploying infrastructure using Terraform
• Experience deploying configuration using Chef
• Experience with AWS or other public cloud provider
• Experience reading and debugging code written in Ruby or Java

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering
• At least 6 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education including:
• At least 5 years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education, including:
