Job Description:
This position is located at the DMV Investigations District Office in Van Nuys.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the District Supervisor, the incumbent prepares month-end case reports for the District and Area, including, but not limited to, mileage, statistical, expenditure, Cal-Card, and copier; updates, modifies, and maintains the Automated Information Management System (AIMS), and other databases; accesses various law enforcement databases; handles incoming and outgoing mail; types correspondence for all governmental levels; answers phones and direct calls for District and Area offices; answers questions from the public regarding consumer complaints, vehicle registration, and driver license; prepares Investigative Case Assignment Records (ICAR), and enters the information into the computer; handles personnel-related issues; facilitates calendars, and arranges meetings for District and Area Office; maintains and updates manuals and unit files; prepares and packages evidence for dissemination; provides technical assistance to law enforcement agencies and DMV personnel and run vehicle registration and driver license printouts; for District Supervisor and Area Commander, prepares travel advance requests and travel expense claims; orders supplies; takes meeting minutes; and performs other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- Selected candidate will be required to participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
- The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
- The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience: Two years of experience in typing and clerical work. [Academic education above the twelfth grade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience on the basis of either (a) one year of general education being equivalent to three months of experience; or (b) one year of education of a business or commercial nature being equivalent to six months of experience. Students who are enrolled in the last semester or its equivalent of course work, which upon completion will fulfill these requirements, will be admitted to the examination, but they must submit evidence of completion before they can be considered for appointment.] OR
- One year of experience in California state service performing clerical duties at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of an Office Assistant, Range B.
