Job Description:

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, US Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma, Petaluma, CA.

You will address a wide variety of issues pertaining to external audits and inquiries, congressional/legislative reports and tracking, congressional and governmental affairs, strategic communications and Executive Secretariat functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing plans and facilitating local TRACEN- hosted special events, meetings, VIP visits, and conferences.
  • Directing personnel resource planning and programming and provides staff leadership and technical guidance for specialized personnel reprogramming research.
  • Managing, implementing, and modifying TRACEN’s communications plan, to include online/social media approach and protocol.
  • Maintaining and ensures periodic review of all unit instructions, facilitates updates as needed/directed.
  • Facilitating TRACEN personnel planning and management issues and actions, to include personnel reprogramming requests, annual Assignment Year (AY) reprogramming initiatives and unit reorganization.

Job Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualification & Experience:

Applicants at the GS-13 grade level must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Examples of specialized experience may include: Reviews, validates and coordinates personnel planning and reprogramming issues/actions. Responsible for providing personnel planning and reprogramming services, carrying out projects involving personnel reprogramming and policy development. Evaluates the effectiveness of strategic plans against established evaluation criteria and superordinate strategic plans. Works regularly with Command and Public Affairs Officer to ensure alignment and unity of effort. Builds relationship and coordinates with key community, local, and regional contacts to organize and execute these events as required. Reviews, validates, consolidates inputs, and initiates appropriate actions with appropriate higher authorities. Reviews incoming directives, policies, and instructions from higher authority, and forward to civilian personnel as appropriate.
