Job Description:

The Advertising Data Platform group at Media Solutions is building the next generation of advertising data services platform that will power the potential of data and provide insights to all traveler and advertiser uses-cases. We build and operate systems that centralize all of Expedia Group’s advertising data, making it easy for our systems and access and transform data for analytics, machine learning, and advertiser experiences. As the founding member on the team, you will drive the vision on data modeling, patterns, and processing of our large data. You will have many opportunities to collaborate across Expedia Group on real-time data processing patterns, modeling, data architecture, and Data Lake integrations.

Job Responsibilities:

• You will drive proof-of-concept or prototyping of data systems and data solutions
• You will work with project teams across analytics, engineering, and product, to define purpose-built schemas to handle large-scale and non-relational workloads
• You will define usage patterns and anti-patterns for data systems, processing, modeling, and storage technologies
• You will provide strategic influence across groups, projects, and products to implement cost-effective technology solutions to solve complex business problems
• You will keep senior leadership informed of opportunities, costs, and risks associated with decisions made around the platform architecture and implementation

Job Requirements:

• You understand how to model data in non-relational stores such as Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, and HBase.
• You understand data modeling, schema design patterns and modern data access patterns (including API, streams, data lake)
• You have an intimate knowledge of how to build data applications using Java, Scala, Python, or an equivalent language
• You understand the ins and outs of how to effectively structure Hive data, have knowledge of data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra or Presto
• You are strongly grounded in relational and dimensional modeling techniques
• You have supported with analytics, data science and engineering teams and understand their unique needs and challenges

Qualification & Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in designing high-scale non-relational schemas
• Bachelor’s in Computer science, Mathematics; or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
