Job Description:

In this position, you will serve as a Civil Rights Analyst and subject matter expert advisor to the Recovery Directorate on a variety of programs that deliver disaster recovery assistance to survivors and communities. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with civil rights laws and policies and demonstrated successful ability to analyze, evaluate, and implement program improvements together with stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing and facilitating community and external stakeholder engagements.
  • Developing program policies, directives and instructions to support the adherence to civil rights, equal access and equitable delivery of FEMA programs and services.
  • Ensuring that the disaster-related needs of survivors with access and functional needs are provided for in State, local, and Federal emergency planning.
  • Conducting studies and coordinating the development of recommendations, operating plans, and strategies focused on the equitable delivery of disaster recovery programs.

Job Requirements:

  • Selective Service registration required.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.

Qualification & Experience:

  • You qualify for this position at the GS-14 level (starting salary $120,619) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Leading teams or programs in the areas of Civil Rights laws, policies, or methods; and Serving as project lead designing and implementing projects that identity, clarify, or make recommendations concerning changes in public policy; and Advising leadership on regulations or policies related to civil rights, equity, diversity inclusion or accessibility
  • You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $102,072) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Supporting teams or programs in the areas of Civil Rights laws, policies, or methods; and Serving on a team responsible for designing and implementing projects that identity, clarify, or make recommendations concerning changes in public policy
