Job Description:

In this position, you will serve as Staff Accountant within Grants Program Directorate (GPD), conducting and performing financial, accounting, auditing reviews and analyses of GPD grant management functions and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience performing financial, accounting, and auditing reviews and analyses of grant management functions and processes and they will be skilled in the identification, research, & resolution of a range of financial management or operational problems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performing and maintaining internal controls of the Monitoring Actions Tracker and Cash Analysis Reporting Template files on the Monitoring and Compliance Branch’s SharePoint site.
  • Populating the monitoring risk assessment, first line review, and cash management analysis templates with open eligible awards using data from FEMA’s systems of record and reports provided by the Office of the Chief Financial Officer; providing pre-populated templates to internal stakeholders; and collecting and archives data.
  • Developing standard tools to be used by the Grant Programs Directorate’s (GPD) Office of Grants Administration and the Regional Grants Management Divisions in the capturing, reporting, and analyzing of monitoring related data.
  • Analyzing collected data for trends and developing quarterly summary reports to inform GPD leadership of trends and recommendations.
  • Overseeing the Monitoring and Compliance Branch SharePoint site and assisting with troubleshooting when problems are identified with the site and tools.

Job Requirements:

  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.

  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Combination of education and experience:at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
  • Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term “accounting” means “accounting and/or auditing” in this standard. Similarly, “accountant” should be interpreted, generally, as “accountant and/or auditor.”)
