Job Description:
As a Sr. Staff Engineer-Range and Performance, you will be responsible for the development, operation, and validation of the Model e’s component and system models. You will use the model(s) to predict component-, range, and vehicle performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop actions addressing lessons learned from previous programs
- Develop and present system trade-off studies to solicit direction from management
- Produce systems documentation including architecture and functional diagrams
- Host presentations of yielded results to advise tradeoff studies, specifications, and control algorithm design for EV systems within Advanced EV Development
- Architect a reporting model of model/component development as the model’s lifecycle goes from concept to production
- Lead the advancing of capabilities within range and performance models
- Lead power-pack sizing and trade-off studies for optimal attribute/cost balance
- Lead / support GPDS milestone reviews of the system definition, requirements, and capability (assessment against the requirements)
- Lead definition, development, sizing, requirements of next generation electric powertrain systems
Job Requirements:
- Strong communication skills with an ability to delegate as need be.
- Strong first-principle physics understanding of hybrid systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation, and basic thermo- and aero-dynamics
Qualification & Experience:
- 2+ years demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and driving product development issues to resolution
- 5+ years of experience working with and leading hybrid or electric powertrain component model development and data analysis in Matlab/Simulink
- 2+ years of professional experience with Automotive Engineering concepts and processes
- 2+ years experience communicating technical information concisely in executive reviews
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), or Applied Physics
- 5+ years of experience working with and leading the development of models to produce repeatable and bar raising results for leaders and teammates within the organization
- 5+ years of demonstrated work and advising on sophisticated Matlab script development and experience with large datasets and complicated models
