Job Description:

Supervises engineers and interfaces with and oversees vendors performing digital design changes at Turkey Point and St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plants. The portfolio of projects includes a variety of complexities from minor software changes up to and including large digital upgrades of safety related digital upgrade requiring prior NRC approval. Candidate must be familiar with industry accepted digital design standards for both software life cycle management (such as NRC Regulatory Guide 1.173, IEEE 1074, and INPO Good Practice 10-008) and digital design changes (such as IEEE 7-4.3.2, IEEE 603, IEEE 1012, IEEE 1023, RG 1.180, RG 1.187, and BTP 7-19).  Candidate must be familiar with techniques for implementing NRC guidance for digital design changes requiring prior NRC approval and how to properly evaluate digital design changes not requiring prior NRC approval. This job plans and directs large-scale engineering projects and develops solutions for complex problems. Employees in this role provide engineering project leadership and technical expertise to drive their completion.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise and leadership for the completion of assigned projects
  • Performs activity requiring original concepts and a high level of experience and expertise with little or no supervision
  • Participates in industry forums and standards groups
  • Plans, develops, coordinates and directs large engineering important projects or small projects with complex problems
  • Leads teams or other small groups possessing special expertise in a particular field or discipline
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

The candidate must be well-organized, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and capable of communicating clearly and concisely with vendor, corporate, and plant personnel across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Reactor physics, core measurements, core heat transfer and core physics testing program experience: 2+ years
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred, but equivalent experience may substitute
  • Engineering or related experience: 8+ years
  • Master’s – Engineering
  • Experience leading advanced complex engineering projects
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Nuclear Experience: 4+ years
