Job Description:

Overseeing a team of talented practitioners and reporting to the Director of Communications, you will play a senior role in devising and driving our internal communications strategy and activities for 6,500 colleagues. You will also help advise our Executive Team on how Internal Communications is fundamental to supporting the airport’s business and communications priorities.

As the ‘Editor in Chief’, you will be an expert at managing the right messages in both directions, ensuring that all content is consistently communicated across multiple channels. Sometimes that will mean saying no in the right way or finding a better solution quickly and successfully.

Job Responsibilities:

• Preparing and presenting annual plans to Heathrow’s Executive Team and working with the Director of
• Communications to deliver the airport’s communications strategy
• Shaping and directing the Internal Communications strategy across Heathrow
• Providing editorial control of content and channels strategy across digital, traditional, new, and face-to-face channels
• Managing Heathrow’s crisis communications capability for internal audiences
• Representing the Internal Communications team at senior levels, including regular presentations to Heathrow’s Executive Committee
• Overall accountability for high-quality performance across the four internal strands: channels and digital; corporate; operations; and campaigns and events
• Leading, managing and building the capability of the internal communications teams
• Advising and coaching Heathrow’s Executive Team on how Internal Communications is fundamental to supporting the airport’s business and communications priorities
• Managing many diverse and demanding stakeholders across the business; listening and responding to Internal
• Communications feedback from across the airport, adapting your strategy accordingly

Job Requirements:

• Delivering successful internal communication campaigns in a similarly demanding or comparably sized organisation
• A diplomatic and experienced influencer who can work with and across numerous teams, clients, and internal stakeholders comfortably
• Comfortable multi-channel communicator who likes embracing change and spotting improvements
• Proven success delivering senior-level internal communications and engagement experience
• Confidence in managing upwards and working with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team
• A background in working in a large complex and regulated industry
