Job Description:
This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Community Planning and Development.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, interpret, monitor, and coordinate policies and procedures for analyzing historic preservation laws, regulations, and standards established and proposed by the Secretary of Interior for purposes of implementing the NHPA.
- Serve as the HUD Departmental staff member that meets the historic preservation professional qualifications established by the Secretary of the Interior (48 FR 22716) to serve as the Department’s Federal Preservation Officer.
- Serve as the primary person responsible for the Department’s implementation of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended, by demonstrating a well-grounded understanding of the principles, practices, laws and regulation, and diverse resources of historic preservation.
Job Requirements:
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
Qualification & Experience:
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Provides support and interpretation of laws and regulations to senior management in the implementation of Departmental responsibilities pursuant to Federal laws, Presidential Executive Orders, and Government-wide regulations, which relate to historic preservation.;AND Provides leadership and guidance in environmental quality including developing policy, criteria, standards, and guidelines on substantive historic planning and assessment; and providing technical assistance to various program offices of the Department on historic preservation matters.
