Job Description:
This role reports administratively to the Technical Group Supervisor and programmatically to Mars Science Laboratory Operations Team Leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform assessments of Robotic Arm kinematic capabilities
- Train personnel to safely operate the Robotic Arm in the Curiosity Vehicle System Testbed
- Be trained as a subject matter expert in the Curiosity Rover Robotic Arm and provide expert support for performance analysis and anomaly resolution
- Develop and implement operations process improvements and/or software toolsets
- Develop and validate procedures and command files for daily spacecraft or test venue operations of Curiosity Rover robotic systems.
- Analyze data to assess health, safety, and performance assessment of the Curiosity Rover Robotic Arm and sampling subsystem and generate reports.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, and organizational skills
- US citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Experience in constructing, analyzing, programming, and/or operating serial robotic manipulators.
- Familiarity with Inverse Kinematics and Cartesian motion concepts
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript etc.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with typically 3 year experience or Master’s degree with typically 1 year experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, System Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
- Experience in robotics operation, validation, and/or performance assessment
- Demonstrated innovation, initiative, and leadership
- Proficiency in C++, C, Matlab
- Experience with Linux or other Unix-like operating systems
- Experience in data processing and analysis
