The JPL Power and Sensor Systems Section’s experts provide the knowledge and expertise for cutting edge technologies in a wide variety of power related fields including power generation, energy storage, power electronics and sensor development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a critical team member on teams inside or outside organization, project, activity or function
  • Produce detailed and accurate documentation products that meet JPL requirements for flight hardware developments
  • Develop requirements for power system development efforts and V&V plans to verify the designs
  • Work effectively with power designers in defining optimum architecture design criteria and approach to inform technical design decisions and implementations
  • Plan, estimate, prioritize, and manage work activities to support meeting schedules and budgets
  • Present complex subsystem architectures and designs to various levels of line management, project management, and other technical personnel

Job Requirements:

  • LTSPICE (electronics design simulation tool)
  • Familiarity with the following design tools:
  • Microsoft Project (for developing project schedule and tracking progress)
  • PSPICE (electronic design simulation tool)
  • Microsoft Visio (for developing architecture and block diagrams)
  • Altium Designer (electronics schematic capture and printed circuit layout design tool);
  • Knowledge of industry and or academic practices and standards across a range of applications related to the development, testing, and integration of electronic assemblies for space applications

Qualification & Experience:

  • Sophisticated knowledge in some of the following areas: Analog Electronics, Controls, Power Systems Design, Systems Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Integration and Test
  • Experience in power electronic designs including schematics, reliability analysis, board layout, and testing
  • Experience with standard electronic test equipment: oscilloscope, power supply, logic analyzer, etc
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related technical subject area with typically a minimum of 9 years of related experience, or Master’s degree in similar disciplines with typically a minimum of 7 years of experience, or Ph.D. in similar disciplines with typically a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience and/or strong understanding of in Systems Engineering
