Job Description:
In this role the successful candidate will support our stores and logistics sites to uphold all elements of safety and legality. The successful candidate will have specific responsibility for food safety and will work to ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues as well as legality of our Brand. Working with internal and external stakeholders to meet these objectives and drive improvements in compliance, the consequences of failure could result in customer illness/death, unlimited fines, adverse publicity and serious damage to the brand.
Job Responsibilities:
- Devising and delivering safe and legal training, working in partnership with the Training Team
- Providing a food safety management service for senior retail and logistics teams, stores and logistics sites, to ensure safety is paramount
- Managing activity where serious safety or legality concerns have been identified and work with stores and sites to demonstrably improve standards
- Proactively attend regional and site meetings to build engagement with the senior teams, to provide information and trends which identify key concerns and to offer solutions for improvement
- Working with stakeholders to manage EHO activity, arrange for any necessary support, disseminate information and liaise with the EHO to reach a satisfactory conclusion
- Providing cover for the regional Technical Managers and Specialists as needed
- Using a partnership approach in order to coach Regional Managers, Store/Site Managers and colleagues in the required safe and legal standards/ general good practice
- Providing a reactive service for serious food safety issues and incidents
- Proactively identify any training requirements and develop or support the development of new training packages as required
Job Requirements:
- Analytical thinking Problem solving approach
- Level In-depth knowledge and understanding of catering, retail or manufacturing and the required food safety controls
- Ability to coach to drive performance improvement
- The ability to champion the customer and retain a customer focus whilst keeping food safety at the forefront
- Ability to influence business decisions that impact on food safety and legality
- Knowledge and understanding of food safety legislation and its requirements
- An appreciation of the microbiological safety and quality aspects of high risk products
- Strong communication, engagement and motivational skills
- An understanding of food safety / quality management systems
- The ability to engage with colleagues at all levels to drive improvements
Qualification & Experience:
- Food Safety auditing experience
- Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology or a closely related discipline
- Post-graduate experience in a food safety role
- Lead Assessor Qualification
- Recognized HACCP Qualification to at least Intermediate
