Job Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to investigate and resolve complex, high dollar, customer incidents and claims which stem from general liability and druggist liability incident exposures while minimizing Rite Aid’s claim exposure. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilize internal and external resources (internet, other departments, store personnel, outside counsel, management, etc.) when appropriate in the handling of complex bodily injury and property damage claims.
- Review and investigate complex general liability and druggist liability claims to minimize corporate claim exposures.
- Open, close and adjust reserves in accordance with industry practices to ensure actuarial adequacy.
- Maintain and update claim database with incident related data to ensure integrity of claim handling and future actuarial needs.
- Review monetary settlement demands/medical records from plaintiffs’ attorneys to formulate damage evaluations and request reserve/settlement authority necessary to resolve the case in a timely manner.
- Promptly and effectively negotiate and resolve complex bodily injury and property damage claims with attorneys (or pro se claimants) to avoid litigation and to minimize corporate claim exposures.
- Secure and review medical records, statements, police reports, contracts, leases, invoices, videos/media and other investigative/medical materials to formulate liability and damage analyses on complex claims.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Insurance, Risk Management, Pre-Law or Business required.
- Insurance or legal industry, such as Claims Adjuster, Paralegal or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
