Job Description:

The Operations Support Senior Manager is responsible for the coordination of merchandise flow from Receiving through the DC. The position is also responsible for creating complex and fluctuating daily/weekly/monthly/seasonal headcount staffing plan for the DC. Additionally, this position is responsible for directing the activities surrounding the flow of merchandise and inventory control through any related third party production facility. The Operations Support Senior Manager is designated to be a successor role to an Operations Director, and is viewed to be a key member of the DC leadership team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all incoming freight processes via the Receiving Office. Ensure that an accurate accounting process of all incoming freight is maintained to match vendor shipping orders to avoid over-charging by vendors.
  • Schedule trailer unloading in a manner to support merchandise processing requirements while avoiding unbudgeted trailer detention charges. Responsible for the trailer detention budget in partnership with Transportation.
  • Manage the CP2 Data Entry team and reporting data that supports Engineered Standards.
  • Manage the annual budget process and all Salmon updates.
  • The Production Planning Process is a critical function of this position. Daily production meetings will be led by the position, providing direction to Department Managers on their daily production/volume and staffing requirements. While creating daily/weekly/monthly production plans based upon fluctuating requirements from Corporate Planning & Allocation, the position additionally creates the Staffing Plan while manipulating the complex Staffing Model. This model takes into account projected UPH based upon product type, average UPH performance levels of Ross & Temp Associates and overall merchandise flow within the building to generate an approximate number of FTE’s. An accurate headcount projection is critical for the Temporary Agencies to have a pipeline of Temps available during unplanned and planned peak staffing requirements.
  • Using Transportation, Planning/Allocation & Receiving Department Merchandise Reports, coordinate the scheduling of merchandise by date through the Distribution Center and trailer yard. This includes workflow management & planning; daily pull planning through the building based upon available work, capacities, constraints, and business goals. This avoids tremendous incremental/unbudgeted trailer detention costs and avoids processing bottlenecks creating unplanned UPH and labor scheduling/expense issues.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the DC. To include support of Process Implementation Projects, IT liaison to Network Implementation and various one off requests.
  • Manage all non-inventory buying and controls.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient P.C. skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and Access.
  • In-depth knowledge of state of the art distribution systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of distribution center processing, merchandise production, planning, scheduling, quality control techniques and managerial accounting.
  • Proven controls management skills with multi-million dollar facility and/or projects.
  • Proven leadership abilities in a fast paced environment.
  • Highly proficient communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong project management skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Management experience in high volume, growth-oriented organization.
  • 10+ years experience in large distribution center or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • College degree (Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration) or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
