Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Housing Standards Team for 2 new Compliance Officers to implement and enforce the MEES Regulations.  The Regulations require a minimum energy efficiency standard (MEES) to be met in privately rented properties (until 31/8/2023). Sefton Council has declared its climate change emergency and adopted a climate change plan. The plan recognises the importance of achieving energy efficiency improvements in the borough’s housing stock. This role will play an important part in achieving that declaration.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful applicants will carry out the effective enforcement of the MEES Regulations within the current Selective Licensing area. The role includes undertaking investigations to identify non-compliant properties, and communicating with landlords, lettings agents and tenants. You will be expected to take legal enforcement action under the Regulations to ensure compliance.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidates must be flexible, motivated, have excellent communication skills and will be confident working in both a busy team environment and on their own initiative.

Qualification & Experience:

We are keen to appoint enthusiastic and dynamic individuals, ideally with previous enforcement experience.
